Council Tree Library
Fort Collins, Colorado
$1,860,000 • 2009
Client: City of Fort Collins, Colorado and Poudre River Public Library District
The Council Tree Library is an interior architecture and tenant finish project for a new southeast branch library, located primarily on the upper floor of one of the "Main Street" buildings in the Front Range Village mixed-use development. The 17,400 sq. ft. branch library features designated areas for children, teen and adult fiction and non-fiction collections, interactive learning areas, media and computer areas, group study rooms, children's story room, staff work areas and a community meeting room.
The design intent for the library was to create a highly creative and engaging space, enlivened through the use of materials, finishes, color, lighting and interesting sculptural design elements. A large, raised central clerestory element glazed with fritted glass bathes the interior spaces with glare-free natural light. The facility was designed using the U. S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED Green Building Rating System and achieved a "Platinum" certification.
Aller-Lingle-Massey Architects P.C. (Architect of Record) worked in association with Studiotrope on this project, providing programming and full architectural and engineering services.

Lory Student Center Addition
Fort Collins, Colorado
$1,309,700 • 1997
Client: Colorado State University
The Lory Student Center project, a 14,000 sq. ft. addition and 3,000 sq. ft. remodel, is designed to provide office and conference space for a variety of student advocacy groups and expansion of the retail mall area of the student center.
The design intent was to establish a new architectural image for the Lory Student Center, focused on creating a greater sense of entry to complement the redesigned Lory Student Center Plaza, linking the student center with the Morgan Library and other buildings fronting the plaza. The massing and exterior forms of the addition reflect the cultures of the different student groups included in the project. For example, the area housing the Native American Students group uses a circular plan and building forms to evoke the importance of the circle in Native American culture. Interior elements and details in the ceramic tile floors, stair handrails and ceiling forms were influenced by the exterior mosaic tile designs of the original building.
Professional services included programming and full architectural and engineering services
